California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED) is a professional membership association made up of public and private organizations involved in economic development. Formed in 1980, CALED has grown to over 700 members, representing cities, counties, state, federal, and private sector members. CALED operates nine regional chapters that meet and provide excellent vehicles for information dissemination, networking, and training: 916-448-8252.

California Academy for Economic Development is a not-for-profit, statewide center for training, education, and research in the field of economic development. One of its primary missions is the education of state and local officials about the critical processes, strategies, and solutions involved in improving California's communities. The Academy focuses on providing professional training to career economic development professionals.

Economic Development Administration (EDA), under the direction of the U.S. Department of Commerce, provides grants for infrastructure development, local capacity building, and business development to help communities alleviate conditions of substantial and persistent unemployment and underemployment in economically distressed areas and regions.

International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is a professional membership association created through the merger of the Council for Urban Economic Development (CUED) and the American Economic Development Council (AEDC) . The IEDC works to support economic development professionals by providing them with various types of support and advocacy: 202-223-7800.

National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) provides training, information and representation for regional development organizations in small metropolitan and rural America: 202-624-7806.

National Association of State Development Agency (NASDA) is a membership organization that focuses on state economic development agencies and issues. Members include state economic development directors and the key managers in their agencies: 703-490-6777.
