Dave Spaur's Bio

David L. Spaur, C.Ec.D., E.D.F.P.

Dave Spaur (pronounced “Spar”) has over twenty years of economic development experience, inclusive of both private non-profit, and public sector organizations.  He started with the City of Sacramento as their new Director of Economic Development in January of 2007.  Spaur has received several state and national awards for innovative Business Retention programs, Strategic Plans and Collaborative and Strategic Alliances in the field of economic development. He has taught Economic Development courses for California State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly), American Economic Development Council (AEDC), Arizona Association for Economic Development (AEDC), California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED) and the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

He received his Bachelor of Arts in a dual major in Geography and Urban Planning from California State University, Chico in 1980 and went on to receive advanced certificates from:

•    University of Oklahoma, Certified Economic Developer, CEcD

Dave has participated in the retention and recruitment of Fortune 500 companies ranging from Apple Computer, hp, Intel, NEC to Western Electric, and located hundreds of companies generating over $5 Billion in new investment and thousands of new jobs.
