Who He Is…
For fun, he has jumped out of airplanes (with a parachute), attended Russell School for Race Car Driving, run a half marathon, bungee-jumped, ridden in a 50 mile bike race in Baja California and windsurfed in waters from Hawaii, to Mexico to the Caribbean.
More frequent activities include tennis, golf, rollerblading and most recently taking up snowboarding, an acquired taste from his teenage kids Sean and Kelsey. Mr. Collins is married to Terri (a nouveau snowboarder as well) who is consistently a top producer at Coldwell Banker Real Estate.

What He Does…

Patrick J. Collins was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer for Kern Economic Development Corporation (Kern EDC) April 1, 2000.
The mission of Kern Economic Development Corporation is to stimulate a diversified and strong economic climate in Kern County, through recruitment of new business opportunities and assistance in the retention and expansion of existing businesses. Kern EDC is the lead agency in Kern County for job creation and economic development activities.

Since his appointment, Kern EDC has been entirely re-organized with a client/investor-center focus. Inheriting a business operating on the credit line, the financial underwriting was returned to a sound basis, by more than doubling private investment in the company activities. The recruitment activities were developed in very pro-active programs and expanding partnerships. Retention and expansion efforts have engaged a tremendous number of existing companies from small business to Fortune 500, including the development of a Council of Logistics Management, San Joaquin Valley Chapter. Kern County has continued to maintain economic and job growth throughout his tenure, even through the state’s toughest economic woes.

What Has He Done…

Mr. Collins’ prior business experience began with CB Richard Ellis in 1980 in sales and marketing activities with a focus in office building leasing, followed by major landlord and institutional representation, then acquisition and disposition of investment properties.
He became Managing Officer of CB Richard Ellis’ Bakersfield Office in 1995, and was named Managing Director in April of 1998, for the newly created Southern California region. In his management role he led the Bakersfield Team to record activity and achievements. He has led and participated on many teams in strategically executing plans and achieving goals for a wide variety of clients. Consistently a top producer in his market, he also achieved national recognition receiving The Colbert Coldwell Circle award for top producers nationwide.

Other Stuff…

Mr. Collins has served on many boards including The Golden Empire Gleaners, St Francis Foundation and Downtown Rotary Club. Mr. Collins is currently serving as a Board Member of California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED), the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce, Gunners Soccer Club, Mid State Development, WESTEC, Workforce Investment Board, California Central Valley EDC, Small Business Development Center, CSUB Executive Advisory Council and Kern County Citizens for Quality Transportation.
